YES Bar
Design System | Visual Design
The YES Bar is a plant-based, paleo, and vegan snack bar perfect for those with food sensitivities and is great for the whole family to enjoy.
The objective of this project is to design a UI Style Guide and Design System for YES Bar’s Blog called YES Life as an extension of their brand, and a source for simple, sustainable wellness information.
As the lead designer during a design workshop, I was tasked with creating an initial style guide to drive the look and feel of future designs.

Discovering Visual Styles
To learn more about the brand, goals, and audience, I observed an interview with Brennan Spreitzer, CEO of YES.
My overall visual strategy is to make sure that audiences can have a clean and fresh view when browsing healthy lifestyle articles throughout the website.

Choosing a Color Palette
First, we observed our client talking about colors based on some example sites that were provided.
Based on these insights, I gathered color inspiration from other sites and competitors.
Choosing Typography
We continued to learn about typography choices with Brennan.
Based on the insights he gave during the competitive analysis, we gathered type inspiration from other sites and competitors like Popsugar and Nuggs.

My Learnings
This was my first experience working with a client designing the brand identity of a startup. It was always fun and interesting to go through different iterations and to design the landing page layouts. However, if I were given more time to work on this project, I would talk to owners to get more feedback on my design: What works well and what does not, which would give me more opportunities to design a better user experience in the future!
